Jill and Keven Helm are the perfect hosts at the Bay Horse, and are well known for their generous and warm hospitality. Not surprising really, as they have been very much part of the Bay Horse since 1995, when Keven’s parents, Ken and Margo bought it, and they all came together to run it as a family and built up a great reputation.
When Ken and Margo retired in 2000, Jill and Keven seamlessly took over the reigns, and the Bay Horse grew from strength to strength. Come 2008 they felt they needed a bit of ‘normal life’ for a while and they had a bit of a breather from pub life.
Jill and Keven were very much missed by visitors and locals, and felt it was timely to return. So in 2012 they were raring to go again! They came back refreshed, full of gusto and renewed enthusiasm to take the pub into its current popularity, with people from the surrounding villages starting to use it as ‘their local’ for wonderful food and ales.
It has also become THE place to go for Sunday Lunches, family gatherings and parties for locals, as well as visitors from further afield putting The Bay Horse on their dining out list.
They have been delighted and touched that their ‘locals’ were so pleased to see them back, and to have their support and encouragement.
